Maui '08 Trip Update - Planned Photo Projects
Keeping with our countdown theme to our latest Maui trip (11 days), I thought I'd list off some of the many photography projects I have planned. As you can see here, we already have quite a collection of photos from our two previous trips, and with so many wonderful and inspiring photos of Maui being added to Flickr every day (Maui is still no ka 'oi), more ideas are coming to me all the time.
1: More stars over Maui
If I had to pick one photo project that I'm most excited about, it would have to be adding to my collection of photos of the stars over Maui. Last year was pure luck and little skill and knowledge. However, this year I've done quite a bit of reading and research and am ready to have a more educated approach. I have more gear to bring with me, and have setup the software on my Dell XPS to connect to my camera and use it for controlling my Canon 20D by taking multiple 30 second exposures over a set time and combining (aka stacking) them with software afterwards. Maui '08 Trip Update - Tour Bookings
Well, we're under the two week mark for our upcoming trip, so I thought I'd post a few notes on what we've booked so far.
Boats and Cruises
This is our second year as members of the Pacific Whale Foundation and we are certainly taking advantage of the discounts. We have 3 tours booked with PWF this trip.
4/16/08 - Our first cruise will be a whale watch excursion our of Lahaina. We're well aware that it's almost the end of the whale season, and we don't have too high of hopes of being blown away by an up close encounter, but it will still be fun. After all, that's what telephoto lenses are for.
For the full whale experience, we're going back in Feb '09, right at the height of whale season in Maui.

Maui '08 Trip Update - Final Payment Cleared
Just a little mini-milestone for our '08 Trip to Maui. Our final payment cleared this week. Woo-hoo!
Now it's time to get serious about booking some activities and filling out that two week itinerary.
