Overview
You might notice quite a few similarities between the Hula Grill and Leilani's just across the way. They both have good menus and very good tropical drinks, and they both have quite a crowd come dinner time. In fact, they are both owned and operated by T S Restaurants.
One of the distinctions that the Hula Grill has over Leilani's and other dinner options in the area is that it's a barefoot bar. The tables and chairs are sitting right in the sand, and you're invited to dine shoeless and carefree while enjoying your Mai Tai or Blue Hawaii. To add to the atmosphere in the evening, they have live performers nightly singing Hawaiian classics, Jimmy Buffett songs, and many different requests that you can come up with. If you're ever walking down the beach or the walkway past Whalers Village at night, you'll likely hear the music and add a little extra Hawaiian spirit in your evening.
Notes
The more observant few will notice that the sand under your feet is a little different than the prestine sand nearby on Ka'anapali Beach. Obviously, that really shouldn't make a difference to your evening, and after one or two of their tropical drinks, you'll hardly notice.
The live music is really nice here, and even though the performers change and rotate from evening to evening, the overall experience and result is mainly the same. Even if you're not having dinner at the Hula Grill and just passing by, you can stop by on the lawn next to the walkway and just sway to the music and feel the love of the islands.
