Giovani's Tomato Pie aims to fill the bill of Italian American dining in the Ka'anapali Resort Area. Located on the second level just next to the main entrance to the Ka'anapali Resort area off of Hwy 30, it's hard to miss.

You'll find everything you'd expect in an Italian restaurant. From pizza to pasta and other specialtiy Italian entrees that you'll find just about anywhere. The open air dining area can seat larger groups, and offers a quick bite after a round or two of golf at the Ka'anapali Golf Course right next door.

It could be because we visited Giovani's late in our trip, when we were already in that dreading going home mood. It could be that the wait staff was having a rough afternoon and didn't feel as hospitable as normal. Regardless of what "it" was, we didn't think Giovani's lived up to the level of service and quality that the other restaurants on Maui have proven. According to reviews on Trip Advisor, it doesn't look like it was just us.

I don't recall the hostess that sat us saying much of anything to us now that I recall. We picked through the menu, ordered a simple appetizer, pizza and some pasta. The food wasn't that great compared to something like BJ's Chicago Pizzeria or Italian restaurants we enjoy back home. Probably not something we'd make a return trip to.

There does seem to be somewhat of a draw for golf groups coming right off the courses next door. Maybe if you're a regular at the course and frequent Giovanni's, you get better treatment, but I don't know. If you want to see for yourself how dining at Giovani's is, don't let us stop you.
