This time three years ago today, my wife and I were unwinding on one of our two week visits to Maui: enjoying malasadas at Lulu’s, Maui Gold pineapple pizza at Nikki’s, and taking in yet another gorgeous West Maui sunset from our balcony at the Sheraton.
Boy, how times change.
Announcement: Launch of Daily Maui Photo App, Version 2.0
13 months ago, I was spending many sleepless nights as a brand new father working on the first version of my Daily Maui Photo App for the iPhone.
Today, I am very excited to announce the long overdue, completely re-written from the group up, Version 2.0.
It’s available right now in the App Store, and just like before, it’s completely FREE!
New Features
You can read about all the new features in the App Store or over at the App Page at Daily Maui Photo, but here’s a quick recap of what’s new in this version.
- Completely rebuilt to support iOS 5.
- Higher quality images to support Retina Displays.
- Tweet with built-in iOS Twitter integration.
- Customized notifications using the Notification Center in iOS.
- Improved scrolling and UI features.
- New full screen mode for viewing photos and captions.
- New Menu with links to More Maui resources.
- Option for Rating the App in the App Store.
There’s are also new ways to Spread the Aloha by sharing the App with your friends and social media fans.
After all, sharing these photos with as many Maui fans as we can is one of the main reasons I created the App in the first place.
More to Come
While a lot went into making this new version what it is, I’m not done quite yet. I’m already planning to include iPad support for version 2.1 and also thinking of adding a Favorites feature that lets you save and revisit your favorite photos within the App itself.
Better yet, have an idea or suggestion on what should be in the next version? You can leave a comment below, or you could head over to the App Page on Facebook and leave your thoughts there.
Mahalo
Many thanks in advance for taking the time to read this announcement, and hopefully try out the App. The geek in me truly loves this type of stuff, but it’s not until it’s in the hands of people that love Maui as much as we do that it truly becomes rewarding.
And you get bet, as long as the Aloha Spirit and this love for Maui remains in our hearts, I’ll keep finding new ways to share it with all of you.

Is this the picture of Kapalua Airport. If so, I would like to let everyone know that using this airport is the best way to get from Honolulu to the Ka’anapali and Kapalua areas of West Maui. The flight is pleasant and short and it’s very easy to get in and out of the Kapalua Airport. No crowds and no hassles. Try it as the way to make easiest and most convenient Hawaii interisland flights to West Maui.

Not sure which picture you’re looking at, but I haven’t had the honor of flying out of or into the Kapalua Airport. We don’t take too many inter-island flights while we visit, but I can see how it would be so convenient for those staying in West Maui and not having to drive through Lahaina and around the mountain to get back to Kahului.
Thanks for the info.
