Packed and ready to go

Packed and ReadyAloha and welcome to the first entry of our Trip 4 Journal.

By this point, everything is just about packed and ready to go. We’re heading out bright and early tomorrow morning at 7am, and after a full day of travel, we should be touching down on Maui around 5:15pm local time (9:15pm Chicago time).

With today being our final day to get everything wrapped up, it went rather well. Right around 9:30am, I was able to go through United’s online check-in process and upgrade our seats to Economy Plus.  For both flights on the way to Maui, it was a total $208.  That might seem a little steep, but for the extra legroom it gives us on those long flights, we’ll take it.  Plus, I was able to select a few choice window seats, so I’m looking forward to that.

We did a little cleaning this morning prior to dropping Cindy off at the nail salon. Nothing like a having fresh coat of polish on the toenails after a long, cold winter (so I’m told). We followed that up with a few last shopping errands before heading home. Before we knew it, it was time to bring our rabbits over to my mom’s house, where they’ll be spending the next two weeks while we’re away.

It’s about 8:30pm right now, and Cindy and I are watching our last hockey game on television for awhile. Thinking quickly of all the things that we’d miss the most (besides our families) if/when we end up relocating to Maui, hockey would certainly be right up there.

That’s about all for now. Tomorrow morning is going to be here before we know it, that is if we manage to get to sleep tonight.  Sure, I pretend to be all grown up most of the time, but it feels like Christmas Eve right now. :)

Mahalo, and be sure to tag along on our Maui Twitter page starting tomorrow morning for all the latest updates during our trip.

Sorry Kris, Chicago’s airport is closed. Ahh just kidding. Been here for a few days (Wailea) and the weather is spectacular. It is a bit windy on West Maui though. The trades are blowing at 40MPH gusts, so you might have a bit of excitement on the way in. Anyway safe travels.

Very funny. But that does remind me to throw the flight numbers in my mobile phone just to check the flight status.

Good to hear about the trades, although 40MPH gusts are a little too high. At least it will keep the Vog away for now.
