Event: Haoles in Hawai‘i – Jan. 26th, 2009

If you happen to be on Maui near the end of this month, there is a class being held at the VITEC center at the Maui Community College that you might be interested in.
Monday, January 26th, 2009
5:30pm – 8:30pm
$39/person
The class is being presented by writers and historians James and Michelle Nevius, and looks at writers from the 19th and 20th centuries that found inspiration from their trips to the Hawaiian Islands. Some of the writers discussed include Mark Twain, Jack London, and Robert Louis Stevenson, and the course also covers the different roles that explorers, missionaries, and whalers played in shaping Hawaii into what it is today.
Going to a class like this might not seem like a normal vacation activity, but if you love Hawaii and want to know even more about it’s history and what makes the island experience so speical, then you can’t afford to miss this unique opportunity.
You can read the full Press Release for more details.

Mahalo to James Nevius for sending this in via our contact page. If you are holding an event, or know of one you think visitors to Maui would like to know about, tell us and we’ll share it here.
