The week’s Sunday Photo is from our first trip to Maui, and also from our first helicopter tour. While a good helicopter tour can be one of the most expensive things you can do on your visit to the Valley Isle, we really enjoyed it. We did a 60-minute island tour with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters, and the weather was absolutely perfect.

This photo is looking South along the South Maui coast. Starting at the top of this picture, that big stretch of land sticking out into the ocean is Pu’u Ola’i at Makena State Park. Just on the other side of that is Big Beach. That first small beach just below Pu’u Ola’i in this photo is Maluaka Beach, which we also visited this past April. I’ve added notes for other places seen in this photo, so click on the photo to go to the Flickr page and see the rest.
While we don’t have plans for another helicopter tour during this upcoming trip, I certainly would like to do another one sometime soon. If you’d like to see more photos from this helicopter tour, you can see them in our Maui from Above photoset in our photo gallery.

Mahalo.
