Event: Run for the Whales – Feb. 7th, 2009

We mentioned over the weekend that we’ll be attending the Whale Day Celebration on Feb. 21st as part of our next trip, but here’s another event that others might be interested in.

On February 7th, the Pacific Whale Foundation will be holding their annual Run for the Whales event as part of the 2009 Maui Whale Festival. Taking place near Polo Beach in South Maui, there are different race levels for everyone to join in the fun, from a Half Marathon to a 2K Fun Run for the keiki. Unfortunately, we won’t be on Maui until the 15th, otherwise we’d head on out and cheer on the runners.
Registration and race details can be found on the race details page, and information on other Maui Whale Festival events can be found on the festival’s website at www.greatmauiwhalefestival.org
I also wanted to take a brief moment to mention that I found about the Run for the Whales event from one of the newsletters we subscribe to. Just one more way to stay connected to Maui.

It is such a fun activity to join. I did the 5K last year and planning to do it again this year. Many families do the 2K. The more serious ones do the 10K which I thought would be my goal for next year (I mean the year after next ;)

    Hope to see you there.

Good luck with the race. We’re going to miss it by a week, so be sure to take some photos at the finish line and share them on your blog.
